Seesaw Platform and APP
Here is an outline of what you can expect from our child - teacher - parent Remote Learning communication platform.
At Ark Swift, all pupils will be using the Seesaw platform to facilitate our remote learning model. As a school team, we have thought carefully about how we want to approach remote learning in the event of disruption and are keen to move forward from the approach we used during the spring and summer.
What is Seesaw?
Seesaw provides a safe and secure digital environment for children to share their Remote Learning creatively by adding entries like photos, videos, drawing and notes. It creates a triangle of communication between parents, the teacher, and your child.
How does Seesaw Work?
Seesaw is an online learning platform which can accessed directly from using an internet browser or via the Seesaw APP.
How will the school use Seesaw to communicate with children and parents?
The Class APP:
- Allows your child and the teacher to post, like and make comments to the learning journal
- Allows the teacher to read and write private messages to the child/parent
The Seesaw website:
- This is a website version of the APP which can be accessed via an internet browser
How to access Seesaw
Letters with access codes were sent home to all families in November 2020. If you have lost your access code, forgotten it or have problems accessing Seesaw, please contact the school office on 020 8743 2514 or email info@arkswiftprimary.org and you will be issued with new login details.
Please sign in with your Home Learning code following the steps below:
- Go to https://web.seesaw.me on a computer. Or install the Seesaw Class iOS or Android app
- Tap “I’m a Student”
- Scan or type in your Home Learning code.
- Post to your journal, respond to activities, and view class announcements.
- Remember, this code is like a password. Keep it safe!
How often will work be set by teachers?
Children will be set learning every school day (Monday – Friday) during closure via Seesaw.
The amount of daily learning will be in line with government guidelines:
- 3 hours a day for Key Stage 1 (years 1 and 2 when pupils are aged between 5 and 7)
- 4 hours a day for KS2 (years 3-6 when children are aged between 7 and 11)
How will children share their work with their teachers?
With family support, children should access the online lesson materials and do their best to attempt the tasks set by teachers.
Children are expected to return work as soon as they can by sharing it through the Seesaw APP. We understand that family members may be unwell or are having to work from home.
Children may choose to upload a photo of work completed on paper, upload a word document (or similar) or use the creative tools on Seesaw to respond to tasks.
If your child would like exercise books to record their work on paper, please contact the school office on 020 8743 2514 or email info@arkswiftprimary.org. You can come in person to collect these books or we can have them delivered to your home address.
We can provide your child with:
- A lined paper exercise book for writing tasks
- A plain paper exercise book for mark making, art work etc.
- A squared paper book for maths
How will children receive feedback on their work?
Children will receive regular feedback on their work by their teacher. Feedback will include constructive comments, challenge questions, extension activities and likes.
Who can see my child’s posts?
Only the teacher, Leadership Team and family members who are linked to that child’s learning will see your child’s post. Journals are not public and never shared with 3rd parties. Teachers can share children’s work with other children in their class via a private blog area which can only be seen by members of the class.
Comments and posts can only be deleted by the teacher or Primary Leadership Team and are irretrievable at this point. This will only be done however if there is an error to be corrected or a child protection issue.
Purple Mash
In addition to Seesaw, children will continue to access Purple Mash for some of their remote learning.
