Ark Swift Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its pupils. Each pupil’s welfare is of paramount importance.

We recognise that some children may be especially vulnerable, and we recognise that children who are vulnerable may find it difficult to develop a sense of self-worth and to view the world in a positive way. Whilst at school, their behaviour may be challenging. We recognise that some children who have experienced abuse may harm others. We will always take a considered and sensitive approach in order that we can support all of our pupils.

At Ark Swift we have the following plans and policies to enable all children to remain safe and promote pupils' emotional well-being:

  • Health and safety policy
  • Visits policy
  • Child protection policy
  • Safeguarding policy
  • Procedures for reporting accidents
  • First aid procedures

Please see our policies:

Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy 2022-23

Contained within the policy are the following appendices:

Appendix A: localised school procedure, school approaches, practice, protocols and guidance documents and links to documents specific to Ark Swift and Hammersmith and Fulham Safeguarding Partnership arrangements.

Appendix B: contains statutory legislation and guidance and other documents and links to those documents related to safeguarding in schools.

Appendix C: contains documents or links to those documents highlighted in Keeping Children Safe in Education (Sept 2022), as being specific forms of abuse and safeguarding issues.

Appendix D: contains the network Recruitment and Appointment Policy 2021-23.  This is relevant to safeguarding because it covers appointment, selection and vetting processes.

Bullying

At Ark Swift Primary Academy we have a policy of prevention. Preventing bullying makes it easier to respond to incidents when they occur. It also enables us to create an ethos in which the whole academy community is clear that bullying is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Please read our

Anti-Bullying Procedure 2022-23

This policy should be read in conjunction with the Academy’s Behaviour Policy.

Photography Permission

At Ark Swift we take seriously our responsibility to protect and promote the safety and welfare of our pupils. We recognise this responsibility extends to how we manage the use of still and video images of pupils and have put in place appropriate safeguards.

We have written to all parents to inform them that their child's image may be used in in marketing, promotional and educational material produced by Ark Swift and the wider Ark network. This letter explains that all children are automatically opted in, however you have the right to opt-out. Where parents have opted out, we ensure their child's image is not used in any of our materials.
