14th July 2020 – Latest Updates and Communication with Parents

Please click on this Link to read an end of term letter from Mr Upfield. A copy of this letter will also be found within your child’s summer holiday box (details below).

Ark Swift closes for the summer holiday on Friday 17th July 2020. Year group bubbles will close at midday as per usual and the Community Classroom at 3:00pm.

What a year it has been! I do not think any of us could have foreseen the global situation we have found ourselves in. Together as a school community we have overcome many obstacles to get to where we are today, have learnt many new skills quickly in order to engage with one another and learning in a different way, and have embraced these challenges and changes wholeheartedly with the Swift resolve and community spirit that we have worked hard to cultivate over the last few years. Thank you for your support and understanding during these exceptional circumstances.

We would like to invite parents in to school to collect a summer holiday box for each child. This can be done on Friday 17th July or Monday 20th July between the hours of 9:00am and 3:00pm. We would like to see as many families as possible before the summer break. If you are shielding and unable to come in person to collect your child’s box, please call the school office on 020 8743 2514 to arrange for home delivery. If your child is currently attending school, they will be given their box to bring home on Friday, you do not need to collect. Year 6 will receive their boxes during the leavers event on Wednesday.

  1. within the summer holiday boxes are resources that your child’s current class teachers have chosen. Hopefully, there will be much that your children will enjoy doing during the summer holiday. The boxes have been kindly provided by the Governing Body of Ark Swift. A copy of your child’s school report and exercise books from this academic year will also be contained within their box.

We wish every child, parent and staff member of the school a peaceful holiday with their families. Take the time to reflect on your own achievements and set yourself aspirations you wish to fulfil next school year.

Thank you for your support and understanding during these exceptional circumstances. If we can do anything more to help your family, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

19th June 2020 – Latest Updates and Communication with Parents

As you are aware, this month we began the phased reopening of our school for Nursery, Reception, Year 1, and Year 6 pupils. These are the year groups the Government advised needed to return to school first. It really is lovely to see children back in school learning and playing with their friends. We would like to have more children back at school before the end of term and are now exploring the option to allow Year 5 pupils back to school, at the earliest from Monday 29th June.

We Rise Together - Celebrating inspirational acts of human kindness in H&F

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought out the best of the community in Hammersmith & Fulham. Who are the people you know who have shown selflessness, compassion and creative thinking to help others?

“If there’s anything uplifting to come out of this terrible pandemic it is the inspirational acts of kindness that have been happening in a myriad of ways each day during the current pandemic,” says Cllr Stephen Cowan, Leader of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham.

“I want us to celebrate these thoughtful and often heroic acts, to reflect how our community has come together with resilience and compassion.

“That is why we are launching the We Rise Together awards to mark those individual and collective kindnesses that have helped and inspire all of us. Please, if you know a person or group doing wonderful things for others, nominate them using the form below.”

Nominate someone for a We Rise Together award:

Nomination Form

The deadline for nominations is Friday 3 July.

All entries will be considered by a panel of judges.

The categories

You may have been bowled over by an individual who has stepped up to support their neighbours, or been impressed by how a local school has supported their students and kept them connected. This is your chance to say thank you by nominating them for one of the categories below.

  • Individual: making a difference – someone who has selflessly devoted their time to help their neighbourhood or wider community during the current crisis.
  • Community organising – a local organisation or group of neighbours that has swung into action to support vulnerable residents or to adapt their activities to ensure people stay connected.
  • Local business a local company that has used its skills or facilities to support the local community and ensure people can access the goods and services they need.
  • School or college – a local educational establishment that has worked hard to ensure that students and families are supported and has adapted to help them learn in new ways.
  • Technological or creative innovator – a person or organisation that has developed new solutions that have helped to protect people, enabled them to keep connected in new ways or ensured they can get the support they need.

Award criteria

You can nominate anyone who lives, works, studies or volunteers in H&F, or any community organisation working in the borough*. You can’t nominate yourself but if you’ve done something you’re proud of, you can encourage others to put your name forward.

* H&F councillors are not eligible to be nominated.

The awards ceremony

We will announce plans for awarding the winners shortly. We want to ensure that everyone in H&F is safe and, under the current circumstances, that means we will not be able to award the winners in person. We are currently working on alternative plans so watch this space to find out more!

Revised Behaviour Policy

We have written a temporary behaviour policy, called our Return to School Charter. This covers the period in which a phased re-opening of the school is in place, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All matters raised have one motivation: the safety of children, parents and staff.

This document should be read, mindful of our existing behaviour code, which we keep at the heart of everything we do.

School Closure Update 25/03/2020 - Letter 3

We all have our part to play in helping to stop the spread of Coronavirus. This means we must stay at home to protect the NHS and help save lives.

Community Classrooms for vulnerable students and key workers’ children

Parents should keep children at home wherever possible and thanks to everyone across our community who has followed that advice. The fewer children making the journey to school and the fewer children in our Community Classrooms, the lower the risk of the virus spreading.

The purpose of our Community Classroom is to provide care for the children of key workers and children who are vulnerable. Only children in these categories can attend.

We will contact parents on a weekly basis tore-confirm if they want to continue using the Community Classroom in school.

Please continue to follow health guidance:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Thank you to everyone for your understanding during these challenging times and a heartfelt thanks to our NHS and key workers who are working so hard to look after us all.

If you need to contact the school, please phone/email 020 8743 2514 (Office opening hours are currently 8am-3.30pm) or info@arkswiftprimary.org
